What is BJ’s doing to keep members safe?

The safety of our members, team members and our community is always our top priority. We have implemented enhanced cleaning procedures on top of our already high standards. We are cleaning high-traffic surfaces like shopping cart handles, bathrooms, checkout lanes and touchscreens with greater frequency, and have provided additional sanitization supplies in all clubs for member and team member use. Out of an abundance of caution, we also temporarily food sampling in our clubs.

Are items in stock at BJ’s?

We know many of you are shopping more in our clubs to buy essential items. Our teams are increasing shipments into the clubs and working hard to keep high-demand products like cleaning supplies, food and medicine in stock. Despite our best efforts, there have been and will continue to be isolated situations where we are temporarily out of stock on an item. We ask for your patience as demand for some items currently exceeds our suppliers’ capacity to produce them.

Are there item limits?

We may limit the number of items per trip on select products to allow more members to purchase what they need.

Are you requiring members to wear masks while shopping in-club?

The health and safety of our members, team members and communities continues to be our top priority. Based on recent guidance from public health officials, all BJ’s team members will be required to wear face coverings in areas with substantial or high transmission as defined by the CDC regardless of vaccination status starting on August 2, 2021.

We also encourage shoppers at all BJ’s locations in areas with substantial or high transmission to wear a face covering regardless of vaccination status.

All BJ’s team members and members will be required to wear face coverings in areas where they are mandated by local and state health departments.

Team members and members who are not fully vaccinated must still wear face coverings in all BJ’s locations. Additionally, team members and members must wear face coverings in all our Optical departments since they are a healthcare setting. Children under the age of 2 are not required to wear a face covering.

Those who have concerns with wearing a facial covering while shopping in our locations can shop on BJs.com or through our mobile app for home delivery or curbside pickup or order same-day delivery on delivery.BJs.com.

Are you limiting the number of members shopping in your club at one time?

We are limiting the number of members allowed inside clubs at one time where required by state or local regulations. The number of members allowed in clubs will vary by location based on the square footage of each club. We continue to promote social distancing to ensure a safer environment for members and team members.

How are you encouraging social distancing?

We’re encouraging members to observe social distancing and remain six feet apart while entering and shopping in our clubs by:

  • Posting signage throughout every club
  • Positioning stanchions to help promote social distancing while waiting in line to checkout
  • Dedicating team members to ensure members wait in line at an appropriate distance and to guide them to available checkout lanes
  • Making overhead audio announcements in our clubs

Are you opening early or adding dedicated hours for first responders and healthcare workers to shop?

In support of frontline heroes, we are hosting ‘Appreciation Hour’ for first responders and healthcare workers. All BJ’s locations have a dedicated shopping hour from 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. every Sunday for first responders and healthcare workers.

First responders and healthcare workers can shop without a membership during this designated hour every Sunday. We are also offering a free, four-month membership to first responders and healthcare workers; eligible shoppers can sign up for this membership offer at the membership desk in our clubs by showing their badge and identifying themselves as a first responder or healthcare worker.
